The Building Trades Department has five vocational programs available
for those interested in pursuing a one-year certificate or a two-year
certificate. We offer the following programs: Carpentry Technology,
Electrical Technology, Heating, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration,
*New for Fall 2007 -- Plumbing Technology
and Welding. Below is one of the five programs we have to offer, the
number of classes required to complete the one-year certificate and
information on the upcoming Fall 2007 schedule. WELDING (WLDG, DFTG) Welding is a one-year certificate program that provides students with working knowledge in the field. The course is intended for beginners in the welding field as well as for students who have received previous training and want to improve their skills and knowledge of their trade. First Semester WLDG 1425 Introduction to Oxy-Fuel Welding and Cutting WLDG 1528 Introduction to Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) DFTG 1325 Blueprint Reading and Sketching WLDG 1417 Introduction to Layout and Fabrication Total Credit Hours: 16 Second Semester WLDG 1557 Intermediate Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) WLDG 1553 Intermediate Layout and Fabrication WLDG 2513 Welding using Multiple Process Total Hours: 15 Summer Session I WLDG 2443 Advanced Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Total Hours: 4 Summer Session II WLDG 1435 Introduction to Pipe Welding Total Hours: 4 CERTIFICATE TOTAL HOURS: 39 CERTIFICATE EXIT TITLE: Basic Welding
