LCC
to host community-wide blood drive
Laredo Community College students and the public will have an opportunity to alleviate a blood shortage in the South Texas area by participating in a community-wide Blood Drive on Wednesday, September 24, on campus.
LCC Health Services and the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center will conduct the blood drive in the Kazen College Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All persons who are interested in donating blood are encouraged to participate. A reminder is also issued to all students, faculty and staff who signed up early in the last two weeks to participate in the blood drive.
Blood donors must be 17 years or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. Donors are required to show proper identification before beginning the donation process.
Persons who donate blood can receive a free cholesterol screening and a mini-physical check-up for blood pressure, iron level, pulse, and temperature.
For more information, call the LCC Health Services Department by calling 721-5189. Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
