LCC
students to host Halloween club fair, Show Band concert
All hallows eve will be celebrated a day early at Laredo Community College during the popular LCC Halloween Student Club Fair on Thursday, Oct. 30.
Sponsored by the LCC Student Advisory Board, the club fair is set for Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the Kazen College Center. A highlight of the event will be the presentation of a live concert featuring the LCC Show Band from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Kazen Center. The Show Band is directed by Music Instructor Jose D. Compean. Admission to the Halloween Fair and concert is open to students and the community.
“The student organizations on campus invite all students and the public to come out and support this fun-time activity,” said LCC Student Activities Director Margie Moncibais-Sanchez.
About 10 student clubs will participate in the fair, featuring an array of food items and Halloween treats for sale, including candy apples, tostadas, cotton candy and popcorn.
Students and visitors will also be able to enjoy a variety of games at the fair including a ring toss game, and water dunking and pie-throwing booths.
Student organizations, such as the LCC Pequeña Barraca Spanish Club, will add a touch of cultural flair to the event. In commemoration of All Souls’ Day or Dia de Los Muertos, the club members will set up an altar in memory of LCC Foreign Languages Instructor Leonel Galindo, who died last February.
Other groups also participating in the Halloween Club Fair are the Criminal Justice Club, Choral Club, Science Venture Club, Radiologic Technology Club, Alpha Sigma, Multicultural Student Club, Student Nurses Association, Student Occupational Therapy Association, and Future Teachers Club.
