LCC
teleconference to focus on health information
literacy
The Yeary Library at Laredo Community College will host a national teleconference on Wednesday, September 10, for area medical and healthcare professionals to learn new concepts relating to health information literacy.
Sponsored by the Medical Library Association, the teleconference on Sept. 10 will be shown from 1 to 3 p.m. at the LCC Yeary Library, room 146. Admission is free of charge.
Entitled “Reading Between the Lines: Focusing on Health Information Literacy,” the teleconference will highlight new principles of health information literacy and explore ways to use these techniques to maintain quality consumer health and patient education information services.
The presentation will also examine roles librarians might play in this arena and assist health information professionals in identifying potential partnerships in their communities for future collaboration. Resources for additional learning about health literacy will also be shared with the participants of the teleconference.
