Mariachi, Spanish Traditional groups in concert Nov. 12
The Laredo Community College Mariachi Palomino and the Spanish Traditional Group will present a noche mexicana filled with exciting music from Mexico during their Fall 2003 concert on Wednesday, November 12.
Sponsored by the LCC Music and Dance Department, the cultural extravaganza will be on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. in the new Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center Theater on campus. Admission is free and open to students and the public.
The concert will feature exhilarating music from Mexico presented by talented student musicians in the college’s two Mariachi Palomino ensembles and the Spanish Traditional Group, led by Music Instructor Ruben Vargas.
Vargas explained that the concert will highlight music, which is bound to the soul and cultural heritage of the community.
“This will be our musical groups’ concert debut in the beautiful Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center,” said Vargas. “The student musicians have spent many hours in preparation of this event and hope to see a great turnout from the community at this free concert.”
