LCC to showcase student art on Sept. 10

A wide spectrum of two and three-dimensional art work created by Laredo Community College students will be on display during the LCC Semi-Annual Art Student Show.

The LCC Art Department will host an opening reception on Wednesday, September 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. for the community to view the works of art and meet the student artists in the LCC Art Teaching Gallery in the historic arts instruction facility.

LCC art faculty members say they are thrilled about sponsoring the art show to promote and nurture student talent.

"The exhibit features about 50 art pieces created by exceptionally talented art students at Laredo Community College who were enrolled in spring and summer classes," says LCC Art Instructor Mark Johnson.

The gallery will be graced with virtually all kinds of art, ranging from traditional drawings, to high-tech art created by design communication students.

Other art forms include oil painting, life drawing, watercolor, printmaking, black and white photography, ceramics, metals and jewelry making.

The art show will remain on public display through October 3 at the college's art gallery.

For gallery hours or more information about the LCC Art Student Show, contact the LCC Art Department by calling 721-5224.

“Legs,” a colorful linoleum cut print made by Laredo Community College art student Monika Flores, will be among the works of art that will be displayed at the LCC Semi-Annual Art Student Show at the LCC Art Teaching Gallery.  The community is invited to attend an open reception for the exhibit on Wednesday, September 10, from 5 to 7 p.m.
