tennis standouts to compete in National Small College Championship
Laredo Community College Palomino tennis standouts Jorge Anda and Rafael Zurita will compete this week in the 2003 National Small College Championship of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Anda and Zurita were selected to enter the tournament on a wild card beginning October 16 at the HEB Tennis Center in Corpus Christi, announced LCC Tennis Head Coach Jaime Donjuan.
Anda, a native of Anzoategui, Venezuela, will play against Dusty Kemick of Ventura College in California. The singles match begins at 9 a.m.
Zurita, who hails from Madrid, Spain, will join Anda in a doubles match against Sam Gibbs and Franz Molina of Fresno City College of California. Game time is on October 16 at 2 p.m.
Student-athletes from community college tennis programs across the country are expected to compete in the Small College Championship, which runs through October 19.
Winners of the Small College Championship will advance to the Super Bowl final rounds on October 18 (semifinals) and 19 (finals). The finals will be broadcast live on RadioTennis.Com.
