‘Comedy
diva’ Sonya White makes her way to LCC
Sonya White, a comedy diva in the making for the past decade, will showcase her high-energy comedy act at Laredo Community College on Wednesday, October 15.
Sponsored by the LCC Student Advisory Board, White’s performance will begin at 1 p.m. in the Kazen College Center. Admission is free and open to students and the public.
White is recognized for her unique sound effects, characters, impersonations and wacky animal noises. Her southern upbringing and the roots she has planted in Chicago make good fodder for comedy about her family, friends, fears and fantasies. White has the ability to put her twist of humor on life’s situations and politics with an element of surprise.
Her TV credits include an appearance in a national commercial promo for the Jerry Springer Show in 2001. White has also been featured on HBO, E! Entertainment Channel, MTV’s Spring Break, WGN News, Comedy Central and the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. She was also spotlighted in the Cartoon Network performing her favorite cartoon impression in a show called “Pick Your Shorts.”
