volleyball team to host tryouts December 14
Jennielle Strother is planning for the future as she embarks on her third year as head coach of the Laredo Community College volleyball program.
She invites area women interested in joining the regionally ranked Lady Palomino volleyball team to sign up for an appointment by Friday, December 12, by calling 721-5326.
High school seniors who plan to graduate in May 2004 are especially encouraged to participate. The information form to participate in tryouts is available at the LCC Maravillo Gymnasium, high school volleyball coaches and online at www.laredo.edu/athletics.
Strother says she will be reviewing the prospective student-athlete’s academic grades and athletic skills. “At Laredo Community College, we strive to bring student-athletes who perform well in the classroom and on the court,” said Strother.
Tryouts will be on Sunday, December 14, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium.
Strother is a member of the International Sports Federation and holds certifications from the USA Volleyball organization in the areas of Coaching Accreditation Program-Level 1 and Volleyball Conditioning Specialist. Under her guidance, the LCC Lady Palominos have been successful in reaching the playoffs for the highly competitive Region XIV, District I conference since assuming head coaching duties in 2002.
