‘Wax Hands’ show returns to LCC Oct. 27

Wax Hands, one of the country’s most popular college campus attractions, will make a return visit to the Laredo Community College campus on Monday, Oct. 27.

Sponsored by the LCC Student Advisory Board, the traveling show will be set up on Monday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Kazen College Center.

Wax Hands was voted by college students across the country as the National Association for Campus Activities’ “Novelty Event of the Year” and earned the “Reader’s Choice Award” in the Campus Activities magazine.

The interactive wax-casting exhibit allows students to create a wax impression of their hands.  Under the guidance of Wax Hands personnel, students begin the process by dipping their hand in a warm soothing wax until a mold is formed.  The mold is then removed and colored in one of more than 32 color combinations.  Special waxes are available, including fluorescent and glow in the dark.

LCC Student Activities Director Margie Moncibais-Sanchez said that Wax Hands returns to the college campus after fascinating students in 2001.

“The best part of the attraction is that LCC students will be able to take their wax hands as a keepsake,” said Sanchez

Participation is free with a valid LCC student ID card.

For more information, contact the LCC Student Activities Office by calling 721-5179.  Office hours are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.

COOL!: In 2001, Laredo Community College students were fascinated with the unique wax casting creations of the Wax Hands.  Students will once again have a chance to experience this national traveling campus attraction on Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kazen College Center.
