The Radiologic Technology program at Laredo Community College invites healthcare professionals and other interested persons to attend a Community of Interest meeting for the program’s re-accreditation process on Thursday, March 3.
The meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Allied Health Center, room 123, at the downtown campus on West End Washington Street.
The Radiologic Technology program, said program director Oscar Gomez, is undergoing a self-study process for re-accreditation by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). By policy, the standards are comprehensively reviewed at least every five years.
“The Community of Interest meeting will offer an opportunity for interested parties to become better informed about the Radiologic Technology program’s re-accreditation procedure,” said Gomez.
The accreditation process is led by JRCERT to provide public assurance that a program meets standards and to promote programmatic improvement.
The Radiologic Technology program at LCC educates the student for a career as a radiologic technologist. Technologists use specialized equipment to perform diagnostic procedures on patients. They use x-rays to produce images that aid in diagnosing disease, trauma and physiological malfunction, among other responsibilities.
The student graduating from the Radiologic Technology program at LCC is awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Technology.
