Individuals in pursuit of a nursing career don’t have to wait until next fall to begin their educational journey.
They can get a jumpstart on their future career this spring at Laredo Community College. The application period for spring 2006 admission is under way through Nov. 7.
Admission to the Associate
Degree Nursing (ADN) program at LCC, normally granted in the fall term, has been
revised to allow a new class of future nurses to begin in January during the
spring 2006 semester.
“Laredo Community College has decided to implement this change to its admissions policy to produce more nursing professionals, who are so greatly needed in the healthcare industry,” Dianna Miller, dean of health sciences, explained.
Among the courses that the prospective student must take before being admitted to the program are English 1301, Psychology 2301, Biology 2401, Biology 2402 and a course on Special Topics in Nursing (RNSG 1193).
A special eight-week course of RNSG 1193 is scheduled to begin next week. Three sections are available, including one that meets on Mondays from 1 to 2:50 p.m., another section meeting on Wednesdays from 1 to 2:50 p.m. and a third section meeting on Thursdays from 10 to 11:50 a.m.
