
Students to graduate from LCC nursing program
The area’s healthcare industry is receiving a boost in manpower as seven students from the two-year Associate Degree Nursing program at Laredo Community College graduate Thursday, Dec. 8.
A special pinning and graduation ceremony will honor the students, who will light candles and recite the health professional covenant after receiving their nursing pins as part of the traditional ceremony.
The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater.
Master of ceremonies will be Manuel Gonzalez, instructor.
Rogelio Espinoza and Jose L. Garcia will be the student speakers.
During the ceremony, student achievement will be recognized with the presentation of the Mary Alice Lopez Award and the Merit Award. The names of the award recipients will be disclosed at the ceremony.
December 2005 candidates for graduation of the Associate Degree in Nursing are: Carolina Arreazola, Ronald Cha, Erika Chapa, Rogelio Espinoza, Jose L. Garcia, Blanca Garza and Veronica Valle-Sullivan.
The Associate Degree Nursing Program at LCC is fully accredited by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners (BNE) and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
The Associate Degree Nursing program at LCC prepares graduates for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Students implement the nursing process with client care in a structured health care setting. The students participate in hands-on clinical experience at the two local hospitals and at other sites throughout the community.
The college is accepting applications from prospective students for fall 2006 admission to the ADN program.
Licensed vocational nurses and paramedics also are encouraged to apply for summer 2006 admission via the Associate Degree Nursing Transition Track.
Applications are available at the LCC ADN Office, located in Lopez Nursing Building, room 126.
