A city-wide blood drive to meet the demand for blood in the region is set for Wednesday, April 6, at Laredo Community College.
The blood drive will be on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Kazen College Center. The event is sponsored by the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center with the cooperation of LCC Health Services.
“The blood drives at Laredo Community College normally receive a positive response from students, faculty, staff and community,” says Health Services Coordinator Melissa Garcia. “We hope to witness another great turnout at the upcoming blood drive.”
To donate blood, the donor must be at 17 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. Proper identification is required to donate blood. Also, blood donors receive a physical consisting of a cholesterol test, blood pressure check, iron level reading, and pulse and temperature check. Donors should eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.
