An exhibit of digital images by J. Dawn Mercedes, entitled “Transformations,” remains on display at the Laredo Community College Art Gallery through Nov. 4.  Interested persons may view the art work Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 5:30 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Admission is free and open to the public.  For more information, call 721-5224.

 

The Camilo Prada Child Development Center of Laredo Community College is open and has extended its enrollment to serve children between 18 months and 5 years of age.  The Prada Center is located at LCC South, 5500 South Zapata Highway.  For tuition and fees information or to enroll your child, call 794-4561.

The Broadway masterpiece “Fiddler on the Roof” is presented live by the Laredo Community College Opera Workshop during a special performance for school children at 9 a.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater.  Show times for the general public are from Thursday to Saturday at 7:30 p.m.  Admission is $5 per person with proceeds benefiting student scholarships and future opera workshop productions.  For more information, call 721-5330.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2005

Help “Strike Out Katrina” by supporting a special baseball benefit, hosted by Laredo Community College and the city of Laredo Parks and Recreation Department, now through Saturday at Veterans Field.  The tournament, which starts today at 12 p.m. features the Mississippi state champion Meridian Community College Eagles, as well as the teams of the LCC Palominos, the Alvin Community College Dolphins and the UT-Brownsville/Texas Southmost College Scorpions.  Admission for the two-day, 10-game tournament is $5 with proceeds benefiting Hurricane Katrina victims from the gulf coast region.  For more information, call 721-5326.
