Continuing Education is smart alternative to workforce training, personal enrichment

Laredo Community College’s Continuing Education programs are a smart and fast alternative for adults who seek to get the skills they need to get a job or to get ahead in life.

At the Continuing Education Department at LCC, participants have an opportunity to acquire or enhance their occupational and professional skills, and much more.

The LCC Continuing Education Class Schedule offers a myriad of unique and interesting courses to pick.

There’s basic keyboarding for the individual who wants to know all aspects of the computer keyboard, from the alphabet to the symbol keys. On the lighter and fun side, the cake baking and variety desserts course is for adults who want to learn how to bake sweet delicacies without the hassles of complex directions and time-consuming processes.

“The LCC Continuing Education Department aims to provide lifelong learning experiences to individuals who need to acquire or upgrade their job skills immediately, Steven Mon Dragon, director, said. “We also want to provide an avenue for personal, cultural and social growth.”

He added that most courses are short-term, and available days, evenings and weekends to better accommodate the schedules of adults on the go.  The level of the coursework ranges from the basics to the sophisticated.  There are even classes tailored specifically for the Spanish-speaking population.

Adults still have many opportunities to embark on a lifelong learning experience this summer.
