LCC to hold cheerleading tryouts Sept. 22

Laredo Community College students have an opportunity to showcase their school spirit as members of the LCC Palomino cheerleading squad.
The group's new sponsor, Domenica Santos, invites female and male students interested in joining the student organization to try out for the squad.
Tryouts will be on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium. Students will be required to perform one cheer on their own and then learn one cheer and perform it.
Interested students must complete an entry waiver form at the Maravillo Gym, room 152, and submit it by Sept. 20. Interested persons must be enrolled in at least one LCC class to become a member of the Palomino cheer squad.
The primary role of the squad is to encourage school spirit in support of the college's athletic programs. During the fall, the group provides pep support at the Lady Palomino volleyball games. The squad is required to attend practice sessions and all home volleyball matches.
In the spring, the cheerleaders support the Palomino baseball team. The LCC Palomino Cheerleaders also have represented the college during the Washington’s Birthday Parade and other special events.
