LCC to host Criminal Justice Career Day

 

Local, state and federal agencies dealing with corrections, law enforcement and fire technology will help students explore their future career options during the annual Criminal Justice Career Day at Laredo Community College South on Thursday, Oct. 27.

Hundreds of college, high school and middle school students are expected to attend the annual event to learn about the growing number of job opportunities in law enforcement. 

Sponsored by the LCC Protective Services Department, the event will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Billy Hall Student Center.  Admission also is free and open to the public.

LCC Protective Services Department Chair Alfonso Mendiola said this year’s career fair will feature 18 agencies.

Among the groups scheduled to attend the college fair are the FBI, Webb County Juvenile Justice Center, Texas Department of Family and Protection Services, U.S. Border Patrol, TAMIU Police Department, Laredo Fire Department, Webb County Constable Precinct 2, U.S. Pretrial Services, Webb County Sheriff’s Department, and Laredo Police Department.

Other agencies participating in the event are SCAN, Corrections Corporation of America – Webb County Detention Center, San Antonio Police Department, Rio Grande City Police Department, Customs and Border Protection, Texas Department of Public Safety (McAllen), Laredo Independent School District Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security (Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention/Removal).
