Building stronger communities is focus of
best practices conference at LCC South Nov. 3-4

Creating alliances for healthier, more prosperous communities will be the focal point of a two-day conference at Laredo Community College, Nov. 3-4.

Social workers and interested persons are invited to attend the first Best Practices Conference on “Building Stronger Texas Communities through Partnerships.”

The event will be presented by the Colonias Program of the Center for Housing and Urban Development at Texas A&M University.

The conference will be hosted at the LCC South campus.

The registration fee is $50 for paid registration forms postmarked on or before Oct. 3, and $75 thereafter while space remains.

All registration fees will benefit the Colonias Youth Recognition Program, which awards scholarships to deserving students seeking to attend college.

The conference will provide valuable information on ways to meet the needs of colonia residents.

The conference will increase awareness about partnerships, promote networking, identify resources and funding needs, provide professional training and much more.

Topics dealing with social, housing and environmental issues will be covered.

Additionally, LCC will provide continuing education units to interested individuals who submit the necessary documentation and pay a $20 fee.

For registration and conference information, contact Ofelia Rodriguez at 728-0210 or by email at orodriguez@bizlaredo.rr.com.
