LCC honors U.S. Congressman Cuellar

U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar, a distinguished alum and supporter of Laredo Community College, was honored on Monday, April 4 with a brunch at LCC’s Kazen Center.

Cuellar was lauded for his commitment to the advancement of education in the region as a former state legislator and current U.S. congressman.

The celebration took place in the college’s Kazen College Center, named for Abraham ‘Chick’ Kazen, the region’s last U.S. congressman.

During the ceremony, students of the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Society presented Congressman Cuellar with a framed photograph of him taken at an LCC tree planting ceremony in 1977.

The brunch ended with a gathering of officials in front of Laird Hall for another ceremonial tree planting, this time in Cuellar’s honor.
