New spin on old craft is offered at LCC on Tuesday

A new spin on an old craft is causing a sensation at college campuses nationwide, and students at Laredo Community College will be able to experience this wonder on Tuesday, April 19.

The LCC Student Advisory Board will host Val’s Dog Tags, a national traveling attraction, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the LCC South Billy Hall Student Center, and from 12 to 3 p.m. at the LCC Main Campus Kazen Center.

“Members of the Student Advisory Board had an opportunity to witness Val’s Dog Tags during a national student activities conference.  It was a big hit with the students who attended the conference and reason enough to bring this attraction for the LCC student body to enjoy,” Priscilla Medina, student activities director, said.

Val’s Dog Tags shows how dog tags are not exclusively for the military anymore.  Now the tag can be worn around the neck, on a wrist, ankle or even as a belly bracelet.  Other students put it on their gym bag, through the zipper of their jacket or use it as a keychain.

The best part is that students can personalize the tag with whatever phrase they choose.

The attraction is free and open to LCC students with a valid college ID card.
