Innovative guitarist to entertain at LCC

Up and coming solo guitarist and composer Dominic Gaudious has toured abroad, appeared with rock legends and was a finalist in a nationally televised entertainment contest.

Gaudious, also well known and liked by college students nationwide, hopes to make new fans when he visits Laredo Community College on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Gaudious will offer two hour-long concerts in Laredo, including a 10 a.m. performance in the Billy Hall Student Center at LCC South and a 12:30 p.m. lunchtime engagement in the Kazen College Center.

Both shows are free and open to LCC students and the public.  Gaudious’ local appearance is sponsored by the LCC Student Activities Office.

Dynamic, intense and passionate are just some of the words music critics have used to describe the innovative work of the talented musician and songwriter.

After successfully releasing two albums and touring with an eclectic rock band in the 1980s, Gaudious found his passion in classical/world beat music.

Working mainly with 6- and 12-string acoustic guitars and incorporating exotic instruments such as the Australian didjeridu, Gaudious expanded on the theme and created a unique playing style which blends the sounds of classical, jazz, flamenco, folk and world beat.

Gaudious has become a favorite at festivals and benefits, including the Race Unity Festival, People for the Ethical Treatment of A and Greenpeace.  He also performed in the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games, the Australian Embassy and the Montreux Music Festival.

He has opened for the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, toured Japan and appeared with Pat Benetar and Kip Winger.

Most recently, Gaudious was a finalist on FOX TV’s “30 Seconds to Fame” and an honor award winner in the Great American Song Contest for his song “Far East Fusion.”

Gaudious has become popular with college students in campuses across the nation and has been frequently showcased at conferences of the National Association for Campus Activities and the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities.
