LCC students get on track for fall term

Road maps to brighter futures are being drawn as students get advised for the fall 2005 semester at Laredo Community College.

Early advising for the new term is on through July 21 and from July 25 to July 27 from 1 to 6 p.m.  Students may get advised at the main campus in the Kazen College Center and at LCC South in the Billy Hall Student Center.

Students who are not eligible to self advise for classes should take advantage of early advising, which will allow them to take advantage of the college’s new, streamlined registration process.

“This semester, there is no more standing in long lines at the gym to register for classes,” said Felix Gamez, director of admissions and registration at LCC.  “With our new enrollment process, students will be able to lock in their choice of classes with greater ease and convenience via the LCC On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) system.”

LCC students may register with OLÉ by logging on to the college website, www.laredo.edu, or by going directly to http://ole.laredo.edu.  OLÉ is accessible for fall 2005 registration now through Aug. 17 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., including weekends.

The OLÉ system allows students to check for “holds” on their student records, view the class schedule and register for classes from home, work or designated computer labs at both LCC campuses.

Students who register with OLÉ from July 11 to Aug. 10 have until Wednesday, Aug. 10 by 5 p.m. to pay their tuition and fees.

Students who register online from Aug. 11 to Aug. 16 must pay their tuition and fees by Tuesday, Aug. 16, by 6 p.m.

Payment of tuition and fees is accepted at the LCC Bursar’s Office at either campus.  Any classes not paid for by the payment deadlines will be dropped automatically.

The regular advising and registration period for the fall semester is on Wednesday, Aug. 17.  Advising will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in department offices at both campuses.

Students majoring in child development, early childhood education, protective services, computer electronics, automotive technology, auto body repair and diesel mechanics will need to get advised and register at the South campus.  Advising for general education courses, under the Arts and Sciences Division, is also available at LCC South.

Classes for the new term begin on Monday, Aug. 22 and continue through Dec. 2.

For more information about fall registration activities, contact the LCC Admissions/Registration Office at 721-5109 or 794-4110 (LCC South).
