No more standing in long lines at the gym to register!
This fall, a new, streamlined enrollment process will eliminate long registration lines and offer greater options for students to secure those choice classes at Laredo Community College Main and South campuses.
Students who pick up a copy of the LCC Fall 2005 Class Schedule will notice the elimination of arena registration, the period of registration when students traditionally congregated at the college gym to get advised and register in person.
With the improved registration system, LCC students will be able to register fast and conveniently with On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) by logging on to http://ole.laredo.edu. OLÉ will be accessible for fall 2005 registration from July 11 to Aug. 17 from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., including weekends.
The OLÉ system allows students to check for “holds” on their student records, view the class schedule and register for classes from home, work or designated computer labs at both LCC campuses.
CURRENT STUDENTS
Students who have attended LCC within the last academic year can follow these easy registration steps:
1. Check for holds on their student records by logging on to http://ole.laredo.edu.
2. Get advised if you are not a self-advised student by visiting the department office of your major, or to the Counseling Center for undeclared majors. Self-advised students must have earned at least 9 college-level semester hours of credit, have met college level readiness (satisfied TSI in the areas of English, Reading and Mathematics), have a declared major on file with the Admissions/Registration office, and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
3. Students who can self advise for classes can register immediately with the OLÉ system. Students who get advised should register in the department office that corresponds to their major.
4. Pay your tuition and fees by the prescribed deadline. Students can pay their class tuition and fees via the OLÉ system with a major credit card. Cash or checks are accepted at the LCC Bursar’s Office. And students who will pay with financial aid should report to the Financial Aid Office. Students who want to lock in their classes must pay their tuition/fees by the payment deadline to avoid the cancellation of their registration.
RE-ENTRY STUDENTS
Re-entry students are former LCC students who have not attended the college within the last 12 months.
1. These students should update their student record at the Admissions/Registration Office. Bring the most recent official transcripts for any college attended since they last attended LCC, and verify their residency.
2. Follow the registration steps for “current” students.
FIRST-TIME STUDENTS
Students entering LCC for the first time should take the following steps before registering for classes:
1. Apply for admissions at the Admissions/Registration Office. Bring the latest up-to-date, official transcripts for your last academic institution attended (high school or college). Bring a copy of Texas Academic Skills Program (TASP) Test scores, Texas Higher Education (THEA) Test scores, or any other assessment test scores that you did not have sent to LCC. And bring residency documentation.
2. Take the required assessment tests. Go to the Counseling Center for your Assessment/Retest Permit. And take your permit to the Assessment Center to schedule an appointment for the required tests.
3. Get advised for classes in the department office of your major and register with the OLÉ system; self-advised students can skip the advisement step and register directly with OLÉ.
