No more standing in long lines at the gym to register!
Fall regular registration for Laredo Community College begins on Tuesday, Aug. 16, with a new, easier registration process.
The college has eliminated arena registration, where students traditionally congregate at the gym according to their last name. Instead, students can register in the department office of their major between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday. For example, math majors would report to the Math Department in Laird Hall, English majors would report to the English Department at the Adkins Building, and so forth.
Students without a declared major can report to the Kazen College Center to meet with a counselor for advising.
Once students are advised, they will be directed to one of several conveniently located computer labs on campus to build their schedule and register for classes online. Student advocates and other staff will be on hand to assist students with the online registration process. Classes must be paid on the day of registration or will automatically be dropped by the following day. Payments will be taken at the Bursar’s Office, the Kazen College Center (checks and financial aid only) or online (credit card payments).
Students majoring in child development, early childhood education, protective services, computer electronics, automotive technology, auto body repair and diesel mechanics will need to register at the south campus. Advising for general education courses, under the Arts and Sciences Division, also is available at LCC South.
And since student support areas will be assisting in registration, all phone calls for those areas will be routed to a message system on Tuesday and Wednesday. The message system will offer information on registration dates and times, as well as the college’s web site for more information. Students can log on to ole.laredo.edu to check their financial aid status, to check course availability, to register online and for other information.
Students are asked to visit the campus rather than calling if they need assistance in registering for the fall semester.
