LCC Fun Fest a popular WBCA tradition
Laredo Community College’s Family Fun Fest and Musicale promises to offer an array of fun, food and fanfare for the entire family on its new date: Saturday, February 12 from 12 noon to 5 p.m. on the college campus grounds. Admission to this family-friendly event is free of charge.
The Fun Fest—a popular Washington’s Birthday tradition typically held on Sundays since 1988—has moved to Saturday, Feb. 12, but promises to offer the same excitement and entertainment, plus more for the young and young at heart.
Last year’s Fun Fest was led solely by LCC for the first time on the main campus on the west end of Washington Street. Thousands attended, and organizers say that this year’s celebration will feature more activities, antojitos and attractions for kids, teens and adults.
“Laredo Community College has enjoyed its longtime association with WBCA and is proud to build on that tradition by introducing the second annual LCC Family Fun Fest and Musicale,” said LCC President Dr. Ramon H. Dovalina. “We’ve added more music, more fun events for teens and adults, and we’ve kept the ponies, petting zoo and kiddie fun.”
The celebration will also keep the LCC Musicale, a cultural extravaganza showcasing the vibrant growth of the college’s performing arts programs and special guest performing artists from the community.
Various LCC student organizations and clubs will operate food concessions and new fun games for the whole family. The Fun Fest will also feature various traditional delicacies to satisfy the palate.
Additionally, the Laredo Children’s Museum, on the college campus next to the Fun Fest grounds, will offer an array of activities and operate food concessions, as well.
Spend a fun and exciting afternoon with the entire family on the LCC campus. Don’t miss the second annual LCC Family Fun Fest and Musicale on Saturday, Feb. 12, from 12 to 5 p.m. For more information, contact the LCC Marketing and Public Information Office by calling 721-5140.

The Student Activities Office hosted the event to generate campus interest for the LCC Family Fun Fest and Musicale. Various student organizations participated in a poster contest and distributed beads to the student body. The PTA Club won the poster contest. The students who garnered the most beads received movie passes.
