Money for College event at LCC on May 23

Graduating high school seniors and college students can explore the opportunities to finance their higher education and obtain career training at the third annual community-wide event, “Money for College: Financing Your Education,” on Monday, May 23.

The event is sponsored by Wachovia Education Finance and Laredo Community College.  The fair will begin at noon and close at 5 p.m. in the de la Garza Building, room 101, on the LCC Main campus at West End Washington Street.  Admission is free and open to students, their parents and adults.

In addition to LCC and Wachovia, others participating in the event include Bank of America, Citibank, Department of Assistive Rehabilitative Services-Division for Rehabilitation Services, International Bank of Commerce, Laredo Job Corps Center, LCC Continuing Education, LCC Disability Resource Center, LCC Employment Assistance Center, LCC Financial Aid, Laredo National Bank, South Texas Tech Prep, Texas Workforce Center and Wells Fargo.

The event will feature information on college programs, federal financial assistance, scholarships, grants, loans and other ways to get money for college.

Assistance also will be available on how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, which is necessary to qualify for student financial aid.  To complete the FAFSA form, student’s and or parents’ 2004 income tax forms, including W-2 forms, are needed.

Door prizes will be provided by event partners.  Refreshments also will be offered.
