The rising pop duo Neutral Sisters will showcase their unique reggae-fusion world beat music to Laredo Community College students and music lovers during their first local appearance at both LCC campuses on Wednesday, February 2.
Sponsored
by the LCC Student Advisory Board, the traveling college entertainment act will
perform Wednesday at 10 a.m. at LCC South in the Billy Hall Student Center, and
at 1 p.m. at the LCC main campus in the Kazen College Center. Admission is free
of charge.
The duo is composed of sisters Kyra and Bianca Noons. They were born in Nairobi, Kenya, Africa, to an English father and a Jamaican mother.
Their unique blend of sounds tell the story of their upbringing. Their father was a lead performer in the world renowned musical, “Hair.” With this legacy, the sisters’ early musical influence stemmed from the chanting and drumming sounds of the Masai warriors, followed by their family’s moves to England and Jamaica, before settling in America for now.
The Neutral Sisters have performed with Bounty Killer, Beres Hammond and Buju Banton, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Lady Saw, Wayne Wonder, Fat Joe, Lil’ Kim and Beenie Man.
Numerous articles and features have been written about the Neutral Sisters and they are currently the subject of a special documentary on their lives, named after their album, “Live ’n Direct.”
