Special tradition preserved by LCC students

Laredo Community College students portraying the roles of Joseph, Mary and the angel are joined by other students, faculty, staff and community during the fourth annual presentation of the LCC Holiday Celebration and La Posada Thursday on the main campus courtyard.  A major Christmas folklore celebrated in Mexico, La Posada is a procession reenacting Joseph and Mary’s journey to Bethlehem.  The centuries-old cultural tradition was hosted by the Nuestras Raices Spanish Club and the LCC Student Activities Office.  Keeping with the custom of this Mexican holiday, the procession was followed by tamales and other traditional fare for the participants; children enjoyed a piñata party.
