
LCC Phi Theta Kappa breaks record again
The Laredo Community College Theta Theta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recently inducted a record-breaking total of 44 new students into the prestigious international honor society for the spring 2005 semester.
The formal induction ceremony was hosted earlier this semester in the de la Garza Building on the LCC main campus. The ceremony was led by student officers, including president Priscilla Pantoja Martinez, vice president Norma Castillo and secretary Jennifer Widrig. Also assisting were PTK co-senior advisors José D. Compeán and Dr. Jacinto P. Juarez.
Among the special guests was Arthur Vargas, Phi Theta Kappa Texas region president, who most recently was elected international president for the honor society. Also present was Ana Soto of the American Cancer Society.
Inducted to the Phi Theta Kappa were Benigna Campus, Lourdes Clark, Christine Alyson Cortez, Lindsay K. Crockett, Alma Cristina Echavarria, Sahar Emami, Daniel Jay Enriquez, Nadia Cristina Escobedo, Marlene Espinoza, Alexis Flores, Hortencia D. Gonzalez, Jeremy Orion Gonzalez, Manuel Guerra III, Elizabeth Haber, Vida Tami Haruna, Tanya Amelia Henry, Raymond James Holland, Shawn Marie Humphreys, Jullie Anne Peña Macasero, Cesar D. Martinez, Lynda Martinez, Emma McCanlas, Heather Alexandra McLeroy, Francisco Mendoza, Sagrario Beatriz Meza, Saul Minjares, Ariel Moctezuma, Lori Lamar Montalvo, Jose Humberto Moreno, Ramon Muñoz, Alfonso Enrique Ortiz, Cleotilde C. Perez, Michelle Bernice Perez, Jesus Sergio Pineda II, Nancy Piedad Reyes, Julian Everardo Rios, Chantil Rubio, Leticia Salazar, Ricardo R. Salazar, Magdalena Solano, Jacqueline P. The LCC Phi Theta Kappa chapter has experienced an impressive surge in membership during its most recent induction ceremonies: 18 in Spring 2003, 30 in Fall 2003, 34 in Spring 2004, 40 in Fall 2004 and an all-time chapter high of 44 this term. Their accomplishment was recently recognized with the presentation of the Pinnacle Silver Chapter Award by the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.
