ready to salsa!
Professional Latin dancers Lee and Florcita of Washington, D.C. are bringing their exciting, interactive Latin dance party to Laredo Community College on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
The dancing duo will present their show—better known by college students nationwide as “Salsa Magic”—at the main campus from 12 to 3 p.m. in the Kazen College Center. A show at LCC South was offered this morning in the Billy Hall Student Center. The event is hosted by the LCC Student Activities office.
Lee and Florcita, both graduates of George Mason University’s intensive salsa training program, will teach students various international styles of salsa and the roots of Latin dancing, including merengue and bachata, to familiarize everyone with the culture.
Once the lessons are over, Lee spins records while the party continues.
“Salsa Magic” has been selected for more showcases by the National Association of Campus Activities than any other NACA act.
“This will be a special opportunity for students and others to watch and learn from two of the hottest salsa dancers in the country,” Priscilla Medina, director of LCC Student Activities, said.
She added that “Salsa Magic” has been featured in many colleges across the nation, including the University of Maine, North Dakota State University, University of North Carolina, Southern Illinois University, University of Texas-Permian Basin, College of Staten Island and Metropolitan State University, among others.
