Summer II early registration continues at LCC

For some students, summer normally signifies a break from studies.  But many students are using their break-time to their advantage by enrolling in summer classes at Laredo Community College’s main and south campuses.

LCC Registrar Diana Rubio said that summer is typically a time when the college welcomes all types of students.

“LCC has university students in town for summer to advance their degree requisites and save on tuition costs,” Rubio said.  “We also have new students embarking on a vocational or technical education program, high school students earning college credit through LCC’s Early Enrollment program, and adults in college to learn a new hobby or have some summertime fun via our personal enrichment and fitness classes.”

The first summer session is under way through June 30 at the two-campus college district.  But, there’s still time to benefit from a summer smart experience, as summer session II early registration continues through June 27.

Students who took advantage of early advising in April for the second summer session and those who are eligible to self advise for classes are encouraged to register with the college’s On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) system online at http://ole.laredo.edu or by phone at 721-5100.  The OLÉ system is accessible from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., including weekends.

To self advise for classes, students must have earned at least 9 college-level semester credit hours, have met college level readiness, have declared a major on file with the Admissions/Registration office, and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Students who register early must pay their Summer Session II class schedule fees by June 28 before 5 p.m. at the Bursar’s Office at either LCC campus.

Summer Session II classes begin on July 7 and end on Aug. 9.

The LCC Main campus is located at West End Washington Street.  LCC South is at 5500 South Zapata Highway.

LCC is offering an array of day, evening and online classes this summer at both campuses.

The summer class schedule is available online at www.laredo.edu or at the LCC Admissions/Registration Office at either campus.

LCC also is offering an array of non-credit and short-term classes through its Continuing Education Department.  The summer class schedule can be viewed online at www.laredo.edu/ce.

For more information, contact the LCC Admissions/Registration office by calling 721-5109 (Main campus) or 794-4110 (South campus).
