LCC enrolls for first summer session Wednesday

Students who want to get ahead this summer can choose from a variety of day, evening and distance education courses offered during Summer Session I at Laredo Community College Main and South campuses.

This summer, LCC moves arena registration from the Maravillo gym to the instructional departments and counseling centers on both campuses to provide a faster and more convenient registration process.

Registration on Wednesday, May 25, is  open to new and returning students from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m.  Students who registered early for Summer I via the OLÉ Web and Phone systems may make changes to their class schedule at any time during the registration hours.

Academic transfer courses in biology, chemistry, English, math, government and history are available to jumpstart or advance degrees.

Vocational/technical training in computer science, criminal justice, electrical technology, nursing, allied health and industrial trades also will be offered to begin new careers or upgrade job skills.

For students seeking a fun and creative outlet to keep cool this summer, LCC will offer digital art, water aerobics, Pilates, photography, basketball, dance fitness, beginner’s swimming, jazz dancing, racquetball, power walking, weight training and much more.

“During the summer, Laredo Community College is offering a slate of courses guaranteed to please academically and career-minded students as well as those seeking some summertime fun,” said Felix Gamez, director of admissions and records.

Summer class schedules are available on the World Wide Web at www.laredo.edu and from the LCC Admissions/Registration Office in Memorial Hall, room 125, and Billy Hall Student Center, room 113.

Summer Session I at LCC begins May 30 and ends June 29.

Late Registration for the first summer session will be on May 30 from noon to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. in the instructional departments and counseling centers on both campuses.  Class adds and drops also may be made during the late registration period.
