LCC to launch new registration process

Laredo Community College, in its continuing efforts to streamline the student registration experience, is unveiling a new four-step process to register for classes this summer.

Felix Gamez, director of admissions and records, says that the new registration procedure will allow students to register and/or get advised by faculty members in the instructional departments that correspond to their major.

“Laredo Community College is implementing the four-step process as our commitment to continue providing students with an efficient and pleasant experience during the enrollment process.  By eliminating the arena registration process held during regular registration in the college gym, we continue to maximize the benefits of our On Line Enrollment systems available on the World Wide Web and by telephone,” said Gamez.

The first step students should take is to ensure that they are free of any holds on their academic record.  Students can check their account online at http://ole.laredo.edu; under the section for Student Records, click on “Holds.”  Any holds should be cleared by the student in the appropriate college department.  Students with holds on their academic record can not register for classes.

The second step is for students to have declared a major on their admissions file.  To change a major, students should visit their academic advisor or the Admissions/Registration office at the LCC Main and South campuses.  Students who are undecided about their major should report to the Counseling Center at either campus.

The third step students should follow is to make certain that their admissions file is current.  Students who have not attended LCC within the last year  are  required  to  visit  the  LCC  Admissions/Registration  office  at  either campus.

The fourth and final step is for students to get advised and registered for summer classes at the instructional department for their major.

Early registration for Summer Session I begins on April 4 for students who are eligible to self advise for classes.  It continues through May 18.  To self advise for classes, students must have earned at least 9 college-level semester credit hours, have met college level readiness, have declared a major on file with the Admissions/Registration office, and have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

Students who are unable to self advise for classes should take advantage of Early Advising for Summer Sessions I and II from April 11 to 14 and 18 to 21 in department offices.

Students who advise early may register early for Summer Session I from April 11 to May 18.  Summer Session II early registration for early advised students is June 10 to 27.

To register early, students can access the LCC On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) system by phone at 721-5100 or online at http://ole.laredo.edu.

Students who register early must pay their Summer Session I class schedule fees by May 19 before 5 p.m. at the Bursar’s Office at either LCC campus.  The OLÉ registration payment deadline for Summer Session II is June 28.

Regular registration and class changes will be in department offices for Summer Session I on May 25 and for Summer Session II on July 6.

Summer Session I classes begin on May 30 and end on June 29.  Classes for the second summer session are from July 7 to August 9.

The LCC Main campus is located at West End Washington Street.  LCC South is at 5500 South Zapata Highway.
