Students who plan to graduate or complete the first two years of a college degree soon at Laredo Community College should make plans to attend LCC’s 16th annual University Transfer Day on Thursday, Oct. 27.
Recruiters from 20 major universities will be at the Kazen College Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. to speak with students in search of a four-year or upper-level institution to advance their college education.
The event is hosted annually by the LCC Counseling Center.
“University Transfer Day reinforces an important goal of Laredo Community College, and that’s to help students achieve success in life,” LCC Counselor Lisa Gonzalez said. “This event makes it easy and convenient for our transfer students to find out more about universities where they may complete their four-year degree. It helps them become more fully informed before choosing the university where they will continue their education.
“Sometimes a little encouragement and information is all that's needed to motivate our two-year graduates to continue their education.”
Visiting university recruiters will provide students with information on transfer admissions, degree programs, financial assistance and scholarships, housing and other issues.
Among the higher education institutions set to participate are Angelo State University, Sam Houston State University, Ohio State University, Sul Ross State University, Texas A&M International University, Texas A&M University College Station, Texas A&M University at Corpus Christi, Texas A&M University at Kingsville, Texas State Technical College and Texas State University.
Also participating are Texas Tech University, Texas Woman’s University, University of the Incarnate Word, University of Houston, University of North Texas, University of Texas at Brownsville, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas Health Science Center, University of Texas Pan American and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
