LCC volleyball team to host tryouts Sunday
Area women—including high school seniors graduating in 2006—wanting to experience the excitement of intercollegiate volleyball action should try out for the Palomino women’s volleyball team on Sunday, Dec. 4 at Laredo Community College.

program, will hold tryouts from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium.
“I’m searching to recruit 8 new Palominos to the team,” Strother said. “I encourage athletes locally and in the region to come out and demonstrate their skills and talents for an opportunity to play for Laredo Community College.”
Interested student-athletes should complete a questionnaire in advance; the form is available online at www.laredo.edu/athletics. The form also may be requested via fax by calling Coach Strother at 721-5899.
High school seniors who plan to graduate in May of 2006 especially are encouraged to participate.
Strother said she will review the prospective student-athlete’s academic grades and athletic skills.
“At Laredo Community College, we strive to bring student-athletes who perform well in the classroom and on the court,” Strother said. “The Palomino volleyball program is very excited about the 2006 season and would like to complement the returning freshmen with players who are as hardworking, talented and dedicated to school and volleyball as they are.”
Under her guidance, the LCC Lady Palominos have reached the playoffs for the highly competitive Region XIV, District I conference in past years.
Several players guided by Coach Strother have earned national recognition, and some have advanced their volleyball careers at universities.
Strother is a member of the International Sports Federation and holds certifications from the USA Volleyball organization in the areas of Coaching Accreditation Program-Level 1 and Volleyball Conditioning Specialist.
