
Laredo Community College and Doctors Hospital invite Laredoans of all ages to follow the road to wellness during the fourth annual Wellness Fair on Friday, April 1.
The event is from 8 to 11 a.m. in the LCC Maravillo Gymnasium. Admission is free and open to the campus body and public.
“Laredo Community College is pleased to again join forces with Doctors Hospital to provide students, faculty, staff and community with an opportunity to guide them toward a healthier lifestyle,” said Lu Sparkman, wellness coordinator at LCC.
The health fair will provide participants with an array of free medical and health services, including glucose (sugar) and cholesterol screening, blood pressure, height/weight, body fat measurement, wellness assessment and asthma screening. Individuals who plan to take the cholesterol and glucose screening must fast at least 8 hours prior to the screening.
Representatives from different community service organizations will host exhibits and distribute free literature, including the American Red Cross, American Cancer Society, Blakey Medical Supply, City of Laredo Health Department, LCC instructional departments, March of Dimes, Texas Organ Sharing Alliance, Rodriguez Pharmacy, Doctors Hospital medical departments and more. There also will be wellness giveaways, door prizes and free healthy snacks and beverages.
