
Issues relevant to life on the U.S.-Mexico border will be explored by leaders of the Texas Border Infrastructure Coalition (TBIC) during a meeting at Laredo Community College Wednesday, April 12.
The coalition will meet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the de la Garza Building, room 101 on the west side of the main campus.
TBIC’s executive committee, which is composed of mayors, city managers and economic development council leaders from Laredo, El Paso, Eagle Pass and the Rio Grande Valley, is led by its chair Dora Alcala, mayor of the city of Del Rio.
Alcala will start Wednesday’s meeting by welcoming the coalition and delivering an introduction on the meeting’s agenda.
The coalition will hear from two presenters, including Dr. Federico Zaragoza, speaking about the upcoming Future of the Region Conference in Corpus Christi, and Janie Martinez Gonzalez, president and CEO of Webhead Group, speaking about a proposal to help build a website for TBIC.
The group also will receive reports from committee chairs in health, transportation and infrastructure, workforce development and education, border county and membership.
A lobbyist update and finance report also will be presented at the meeting.
