LCC Calendar for August 21-27, 2006

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 21, 2006

Laredo Community College main and south campuses are closed so that faculty and staff can kick up their heels and explore “New Frontiers” during the Fall 2006 Convocation.  Full- and part-time LCC employees are treated to a chuck wagon breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. in the Kazen College Center, followed by a general session from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater; a dance performance featuring LCC students and a special message from motivational speaker Efrain “Happy” Guerrero are some of the highlights of the general session.  Breakout sessions and meetings will be conducted in the afternoon; the in-service finishes with an outdoor festival for college employees beginning at 5:30 p.m.  For more information, call 721-5140.

 

Fall in step toward a brighter future at the “College of Champions.”  Registration for the fall 2006 semester at Laredo Community College is available today via the On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) system at http://ole.laredo.edu from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.  Students who registered between Aug. 18 and 21 must pay their tuition and fees by Tuesday, Aug. 22 by 7 p.m. at the Bursar’s Office or by 11 p.m. with a credit card via the On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) system at http://ole.laredo.edu.  For more information, call 721-5109 or 794-4110.

 

Be part of a new breed of teachers.  Persons with a bachelor’s degree and a desire to teach are encouraged to learn more about the Teacher Certification Program at Laredo Community College.  Apply now through Wednesday, Aug. 23 at www.laredo.edu/teachered.

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 22, 2006

Be a winner at the “College of Champions.”  Register for the fall 2006 semester at Laredo Community College main or south campuses in person at the instructional department corresponding to your declared major or at the Counseling Center if you are undecided about your major;  on-campus  registration  and faculty advising is available from 8 a.m.-7 p.m.  Registration also is available via the On Line Enrollment (OLÉ) system at http://ole.laredo.edu from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.  Payment of tuition and fees for students who registered between Aug. 18 and 22 is due by 7 p.m. at the Bursar’s Office or by 11 p.m. with a credit card via the OLÉ system.  For more information, call 721-5109 or 794-4110.

 

Be a star at Laredo Community College.  Aspiring actors and stage crew are sought for the LCC Drama Workshop’s fall production of Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite.”  Auditions will be conducted from 7-9 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center, room 102.  Male and female actors between the ages of 18 and 55 are needed.  For more information, call Drama Workshop Director Gil Martinez at 721-5489 or 721-5330.

 

Laredo Community College main and south campuses return to their regular work schedule.  Most campus offices are open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m.-12 p.m.  Some departments may operate under a different schedule to better accommodate students.  For more information, call 721-5140.
