Singers and musicians with a desire to perform in a mariachi ensemble are encouraged to audition for a spot with the Mariachi Palomino of Laredo Community College.
Dr. Luis Casal, music instructor and director of the Mariachi Palomino, will hold auditions on Wednesday, Dec. 13 and on Monday, Jan. 15 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center, room 101.
To sign up for an audition spot, visit the LCC Performing Arts (formerly Music/Dance) Building 2, room 106.
Participation is open to music and non-music majors, but students must enroll in the Mariachi Palomino class to participate with the group. Beginners and experienced musicians are invited to audition.
Casal added that he will be seeking students to fill spots for vocalists, violin, guitar, vihuela, guitarron, trumpet and harp. The Mariachi Palomino class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., beginning Jan. 16.
