Summer is traditionally a time for traveling to exotic or fun-filled destinations.
But a short trip to Laredo Community College can help save a life by participating in a Blood Drive Thursday, July 27.
The Blood Drive will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kazen College Center. Students, faculty, staff and community are encouraged to participate.
The event will be conducted by the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center with the cooperation of LCC Health Services.
Event organizers said that the community is urged to participate in the city-wide blood drive, which helps to meet the demand for blood in the region.
To donate blood, the donor must be 17 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health.
Proper photo identification is required to donate blood. Donors also should eat and drink plenty of fluids before donating blood.
Blood donors will be rewarded with a T-shirt and refreshments.
