LCC South announces reading club winners
This summer 28 children found a creative outlet to expand their reading skills at the Zaffirini Library at Laredo Community College South. The three children who read the most books during the Summer Reading Club Challenge were recognized recently by staff at the LCC South library. They are, from left, LCC South Provost Francisco Martinez Jr., first-place winner Hilda Elsa Gonzalez, second-place winners/sisters Adrienne Herrera and Celeste S. Herrera, LCC South librarian Analiza Perez-Gomez and circulation clerk Iris Puentes. Four-year-old Gonzalez read 122 books, while the Herrera sisters, ages 3 and 5, were tied with 108 books. The winners received prizes in the form of books from B. Dalton Bookstore.
