Work on LCC main entranceway starts Monday

Motorists who normally use the Washington Street Bridge at the Laredo Community College main campus are encouraged to use alternate campus entranceways beginning Monday, July 31.

Road construction on the Washington Street overpass is scheduled for the next three weeks and is expected to cause some delays as the traffic flow is reduced to one lane for incoming and outgoing traffic.

Motorists can use one of two other main campus entranceways, including the Moctezuma Street entrance on the northeast side of campus or the Evans Road entrance on the south side of campus.

The pedestrian sidewalk on the Washington Street overpass will remain open to the public.

Recommended route to exit LCC campus on Moctezuma: go north on Pinder or San Ignacio, then east on Lafayette to IH-35.  Pinder ends after the intersection with Park; to continue north to Lafayette from Pinder, turn east on Park and then north on San Ignacio.

Recommended route to exit LCC campus on Evans: go east on Zaragoza to one of the four main north-south arteries (Davis, Santa Maria, Convent or San Bernardo.

Motorists who choose to use the Washington Street entrance may experience traffic delays up to 15 minutes long during peak hours.  They are asked to drive cautiously and obey all road signs and traffic control personnel.

Road construction on the Washington Street overpass is expected to last through Monday, Aug. 21.
