Moving forward for Hispanics in higher education

Advancement continues for Texas’ first Consortium of Hispanic Serving Institutions, an initiative funded by the United States Department of Agriculture. A memorandum of agreement in support of the consortium was signed recently by Laredo Community College president Dr. Ramon H. Dovalina. Looking on is Dr. Nora Garza, dean of arts and sciences at LCC and the grant writer for the $300,000 USDA grant. The state consortium is a partnership of LCC and Houston Community College to improve educational access and success for thousands of Hispanic students.
