A tribute to women
The first International Women’s Day Celebration held March 8 at Laredo Community College South was a tremendous success attended by dozens of students, staff and community. The celebration included a poetry recital led by college students and presentations by prominent women leaders from the community. Among those who contributed to the event’s success were, from left, LCC South librarian Analiza Perez-Gomez, English instructor Mary Sue Galindo, historian Sharon Cruz, Sister Rosemary Welsh, author Raquel Valle-Senties and LCC South Provost Francisco Martinez Jr. The event was coordinated by Galindo, Gomez, and psychology/sociology instructor Sara Thompson.
