
Some 450 degrees, certificates and diplomas will be conferred to students during graduation ceremonies May 11, 12 and 13 at the Laredo Community College main campus.
The series will begin with a Nursing Pinning Ceremony Thursday, May 11 for 16 candidates receiving a two-year associate degree in nursing.
The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center.
On Friday, May 12 LCC will host a Graduation Ceremony for more than 80 candidates of the General Educational Development (GED) diploma. The formal ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium.
Graduation activities will continue Saturday, May 13 with commencement exercises for the conferring of degrees and certificates of completion.
Three ceremonies will be held to better accommodate graduates, their family members and friends.
More than 360 graduates are expected to participate from a total of 790 students who completed their certificate and/or associate degree requirements between summer 2005 and spring 2006.
A ceremony for candidates receiving the associate in arts and associate in science degrees will be held at 10 a.m. in the Maravillo Gymnasium.
Two ceremonies will be hosted for candidates receiving an associate in applied science degree and certificates of completion in the Maravillo Gym.
A ceremony at 2 p.m. will be held for candidates receiving an AAS degree and certificates in Health Sciences, Child Development and Protective Services.
A ceremony at 6 p.m. will be hosted for candidates earning an AAS degree and certificates in Computer Technology, Industrial Trades, Management and Business and Technology.
A highlight of the Commencement ceremonies will be the presentation of the 2006 Meritorious Service Award, which lauds individuals or community organizations for their support of the LCC mission and student body. The name of this year’s recipient will be announced during the 10 a.m. ceremony on Saturday.
Admission to all LCC graduation and commencement ceremonies is free of charge and open to family and friends of the graduates, as well as to the public.
