Looking for a special Mother’s Day gift?
Don’t fret. Instead, make a date with mom to attend the 16th annual Mother’s Day Concert Sunday, May 14 at Laredo Community College.
The concert begins at 3 p.m. in the Guadalupe and Lilia Martinez Fine Arts Center theater on the main campus.
Admission is free to the public.
The concert will feature a romantic serenade by the LCC Spanish Traditional Group and the Mariachi Palomino, as well as a visual delight of movement courtesy of the college’s Ballet Folklorico and Flamenco Dance Company.
“It’s a gift of music and dance that mom is sure to treasure forever,” Alfredo Iniguez, director of the traditional group and event organizer, explained.
In addition to honoring mothers with a tribute of songs dedicated especially for them, the traditional group will offer a musical homage to the late Rene Ornelas of the famed local duo Rene y Rene, and to late Spanish songstress Rocio Durcal.
Additionally, the first 200 moms to arrive to the theater will receive a carnation in honor of this special day.
The concert is sponsored by the LCC Music and Dance Department with support from the City of Laredo.
