LCC recognizes math whizzes

Some of the community’s brightest student mathematicians were honored by Laredo Community College after winning the annual math contest held during the celebration of Math/Internet Security Month. High school and college students gathered at the main campus to participate in the contest, learn about exciting careers in robotics, health sciences and more, get treated to lunch and much more. Contest winners pictured with LCC math faculty are, from left, instructor/co-event organizer Humberto Laurel, Diego Lopez of United High School (9th grade), Andres Gonzalez of Alexander High School (10th grade), department chair Anna Maria Mendiola, Marco Ruiz of Alexander H.S. (11th grade), Rafael Lopez of United H.S. (12th grade) and instructor/co-event organizer Juan Sauceda. LCC student Jesse Chandarlis (not pictured) won the college-level contest.
