Creative writing on spring class schedule at LCC

Want to pen something on paper, but can’t because of writer’s block?

Get those creative juices flowing by enrolling in a Creative Writing class at Laredo Community College.

The course is set to be offered during the Spring 2007 semester at LCC for adults interested in learning about writing short stories and poetry.  Students who are not eligible to enroll in ENGL 1301 may still register for the creative writing course with the instructor’s approval.

Randy Beller, instructor of the Creative Writing course, said that the class will focus on writing short stories and poetry.

“Students will work with both types of writing, but may focus more on one than the other.  Students will work on different kinds of poetry, as well as short stories.”

He added that the class will be structured as workshops so that students can get immediate feedback on their writing.

“This course will be designed for both students who have experience with creative writing, as well as students who are just getting started with this kind of writing.  For those who have never tried to write stories or poems, this course can help them discover their creative voice,” Beller added.

The course, ENGL 2307.M01, will be conducted on Tuesdays from 7 to 9:20 p.m., beginning Jan. 16, at the LCC main campus.  For more information, call Beller at 721-5338.
