A collection of wire art sculptures created by Laredo Community College art students is unveiled during an opening reception Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Yeary Library.
Art lovers are invited to view the art exhibit, which consists of 10 figures made of metal wire. The art was done by students in a sculpture class taught by LCC art instructor Dan McInnis.
“The art exhibit is interesting from an aesthetic point of view because each wire figure is a self-portrait of the student artist,” college librarian Bill Wisner said. “Some pieces have microphones and others long, bristly hair-dos. Others swing a baseball bat or a fencing rapier.”
Admission to the exhibit is free to the campus body and the public. The art show will remain on display through December leading to the college’s winter break holiday.
